In this confusing world of ours it is almost impossible to have the least premonition of what is in store for us. Everything seams to be working against us , against the most essential stability of our lives. Most of the population in the world is living in fear. And it is not just a cultural question due to the media though, for political reasons, they assume an important role in the maintenance of that feeling .
This sensation of living in a strenuous world is not exclusive of those who inhabit the most poor regions of the globe and are subjected to the worst kind of political abuses, or those who though living in rich countries cross their lives without getting not even the essential and, even so, fear to loose what they have. We see it everyday in the faces of those men and women whose few belongings were destroyed by natural calamities, fire or those stupid revolutions that are taking place all over the world to conquest some vulnerable political power. The same is ‘attacking’ the highest spheres of societies. All those women ( Amanpour’s fashion) trained in the CNN school of enthusiastic way to choose, transmit and insist in the same themes and propositions are invading most of TV news canals all over the world, using the same expressive look and arm balances to reinforce the words they talk and the opinions they get, though essentially directed to high middle class groups and finance entrepreneurs, driving them amid a lot of quotidian frightening suppositions that after being so much talked about are, unfortunately , being taken to performance.
We are being told to be afraid of a lot of common foodstuffs, afraid of a lot of illnesses whose frightening percentage is given us everyday and by all means, we fear the sun, we fear to walk on the street and being runned over by a terrorist’s car – even if we do not know whose terrorists ‘they’ are referring of- , we may be found of democracy but we fear not to vote correctly and fear the consequences, we, in same cases, even fear family and the neighbour next door because we are being trained to mistrust.
The fact is that there is a war inside each of us. A war that is not real, that may be about to be real, may never happen. War against poverty, against wealth, against cultures and genetic differences, between the long lived ‘grey generation’ and the youngsters with little hope in the future, between those who produce goods and those who get their jobs in services, between the science of man and the wisdom of God, between theoretical performances and the strength of reality.
Peace and War seem to be part of the dynamic of Creation. Even between our ancestors Adam and Eve the ‘romance’ began with war. The peace of love always begin with a state of war. However, like it happens with death – that though all of us are sure that our time will come a healthy mind don’t think constantly on it – this dihcotomic problem only enters our minds because someone, somehow, by some means and with some intentions put it there.
It is on us to defend the peace of our minds and avoid to take for true and carry on all the stuff the media industry on the service of whatever objectives insistently fire on us.
Listen to music, walk beautiful places, and pray mother Nature to “bless the waters, the flowers and the butterflies that flow in the woods ”. In the mean time do not be afraid but cautious . Bring children with love, courage and the sense that a better world depends on them. The present is too short to be spoiled and the future depends on God, whatever the name you use to mention Him.
